The YMCA Fairfax County Reston is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Early Learning Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun, and positive environment daily! The Early Learning Director oversees the overall operation of the Early Learning program, including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, and health and safety of the children.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Recreation, Human Services, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills including staff supervision and development, program development and working with children and parents
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents and committed to working with diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of a license pre-school facility.
  • Responsible for creating, developing and maintain a positive relationship with teachers, parents, and professional development of branch staff.
  • Stays current with all licensing, state and local regulations and ensures that the site and all of its staff are in compliance at all times.
  • Provides training and orientation for new parents, teachers and children including touring families and transitioning children.
  • Hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating early learning staff.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly communication to parents to support the lesson plans and the milestones and development of the children within the program.
  • Prepares annual budget of the department for presentation to administration and periodic forecasting presentations.
