About The Position

The Early Intervention Specialist supports Greater Omaha Packing Company’s occupational health and safety efforts by providing early, on-site intervention for musculoskeletal discomfort and minor work-related injuries. This role helps prevent recordable injuries and long-term musculoskeletal disorders by identifying early symptoms, delivering first-aid–level therapeutic interventions, and supporting ergonomic improvements. The Specialist develops and maintains occupational health and safety programs; conducts inspections, audits, and assessments to identify hazards; ensures regulatory compliance; and promotes a culture of safety through training and coaching. The role works closely with EHS, Occupational Health, Production Leadership, and Training teams to recommend ergonomic improvements and educate employees on safe work practices, body mechanics, stretching, and injury prevention techniques. Services are preventative and supportive in nature and do not replace licensed medical care but instead help employees remain productive and working safely.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, exercises, and modalities commonly used in physical therapy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients during exercises and perform manual therapy techniques.
  • Attention to detail for accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with advancements in the field through continuing education.
  • Proficient in using relevant software and tools for data management and reporting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and document patients' progress, reactions, and responses to treatments. Communicate this information to OHS Manager when needed to assist in evaluating treatment effectiveness and making necessary adjustments.
  • Implement treatment plans at the first aid level such as various therapeutic interventions, such as manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and assistive devices.
  • Educate patients about treatment techniques, exercises, and home programs. Provide instructions on proper body mechanics, assistive device usage, and strategies to enhance self-care and functional independence.
  • Document and communicate patients' responses to treatment, including progress or changes in functional abilities, pain levels, and mobility. They regularly report patient updates to plant nurse and assist in modifying treatment plans as needed.
  • Arranging and setting up equipment and ensuring their cleanliness and functionality. They may also maintain inventory and order supplies as necessary.
  • Continuously monitor manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows to identify any deviations, abnormalities, or potential bottlenecks.
  • Identify and resolve issues and problems that arise during the manufacturing process. This may involve analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze data related to manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and product quality to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assess potential risks and hazards in the manufacturing process and develop strategies to mitigate or prevent them. This includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, technicians, supervisors, HR, training, and quality control personnel to ensure effective communication and coordination in addressing manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain professional communication with all support departments throughout Greater Omaha.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on best practices, process improvements, and quality control measures to enhance their skills and knowledge; to include hazardous assessments, job descriptions, and ergo and time studies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing plant performance, issues, and improvement recommendations for management.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, and modalities.
  • Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards in all aspects of patient care, maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring the delivery of safe and effective therapy services.
  • Provide new employees pre-employment physicals and review medical history, up channel to OHS Manager when concerns arise.
  • Support human relations with UA’s when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
