The EHS Substitute, under the supervision of the EHS Classroom Supervisor is responsible for assisting primary teachers in working with very young children, their parents, other staff, volunteers, and community partners to provide developmentally appropriate quality childcare in a center-based environment that is in compliance with all Head Start Performances Standards and State Licensing Requirements. Assists in implementing developmentally appropriate instruction based on each child’s individual needs. Insures the safety of each child that is assigned to their care, checking toys and equipment daily. Provides assistance in indoor and outdoor settings as directed by supervisor or primary teacher. Encourages and respects the particular ethnic background of all EHS and Carey Services parents, children, clients and staff. Participates in ongoing training activities as outlined in EHS and State Licensing Regulations. Adhere to all plans, policies, and procedures of Carey Services and Early Head Start. Promote agency-wide safety and housekeeping as well as take a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and delivery of quality service.
