Ability to work cooperatively with parents and staff. Ability to comprehend and make inferences from written materials. Ability to collect and analyze data and make concise, accurate reports and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (National) credential (or Prek CDA and able to obtain Infant/Toddler within 1 year) Or Associate degree in Early Childhood education or related field with 18 college credit hours in early childhood education.
  • AND Completion of DCF 45 Hour Training
  • Minimum of two years experience working in an infant/toddler classroom with ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including; at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a developmentally appropriate, multi-cultural curriculum for children
  • Oversees the team assessment of each child developmentally, utilizing identified assessment tool (i.e. BDI3) and develops individual goals
  • Develop and utilize lesson plans, the Family Partnership Agreement and the Individual Family Support Plan to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of infants and toddlers, while reflecting the parental and cultural influences of the family
  • Participates in team planning with the multi-disciplinary team (i.e. co-teacher, therapists), using and encouraging appropriate input from parents
  • Completes and maintains all necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance with Early Head Start performance standards
  • Conducts home visits as required by Head Start performance standards for purposes of assessment support and to provide developmentally appropriate child development information and activities based on the individual family’s needs, interests and learning style
  • Develops and maintains a relationship with each family and reviews their needs and progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Oversees maintenance, upkeep and inventory of classroom supplies, materials and equipment
  • Prepares and/or serves meals and snacks; sitting with toddlers to encourage social interaction and good nutrition
  • Performs housekeeping tasks
  • Tend to infants’ and toddlers’ personal hygiene needs, such as diaper changing, cleaning and changing soiled or wet clothes
  • Participates in and supports at least two events annually hosted or sponsored by UCP; including parent events and community fairs
  • Engages parents in volunteering, community service and other ways of contributing to program activities and services
  • Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques
  • Ensure Principal is informed of parent concerns and complaints
  • Ensure compliance with requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, Department of Education, School District, HIPAA, 4C, Department of Children and Families and any other State and Federal agencies as required.
