About The Position

As an Early Childhood Program Specialist 2 (ECPS2) for the Children's Center, you will assist in implementing the educational curriculum and support the general operation of an infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age classroom. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment; assisting with child assessments; supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of children’s activities; assisting in directing student staff and volunteers; supporting recordkeeping; and helping to maintain a classroom environment that meets child care licensing and accreditation standards. You will also assist in evaluating student staff, modeling appropriate nurturing and communication skills with children, and actively and positively participate as a team member with all center staff. In the absence of the Early Childhood Program Specialist 3, you may temporarily assume leadership of the classroom. Additional Information: This is a full (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,752 to $5,011 (Steps A - M) | Range 42 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • One year of experience in an early childhood program and thirty quarter credit hours in early childhood development/education/special education; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Associates degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Development OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Must meet the required criteria of having 12 aligned college credits in ECE Core Competencies or a CDA (Child Development Associate) within 5 years of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years experience with children in group child care setting.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices with young children.
  • Experience working with infants/toddlers in an education or childcare setting
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills with parents, children and co-workers.
