About The Position

As an Early Childhood Program Specialist 2 (ECPS2), you will assist in implementing the educational curriculum and supporting the general operation of an infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age classroom. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment; assisting with child assessments; planning, implementing, and evaluating activities; directing student staff and volunteers; keeping records; and ensuring the classroom meets child care licensing and accreditation standards. You will also help evaluate student staff, model appropriate nurturing and communication skills with children, and actively participate as a positive team member with all center staff. In the absence of the Early Childhood Program Specialist 3, you may temporarily assume leadership of the classroom. This is a full (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,752 to $5,011 | Range 42 Steps A - M |Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • One year of experience in an early childhood program and thirty quarter credit hours in early childhood development/education/special education; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must meet the required criteria of having 12 aligned college credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) Core Competencies or a CDA (Child Development Associate) within 5 years of hire.
  • Must meet and understand the requirements for the following: WAC 110-300-0120 Providing for personal, professional, and health needs of staff WAC 110-300-0105 Preservice requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Development OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Two (2) years experience with children in a group child care setting.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices interacting with young children.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills with parents, children and colleagues.
  • Experience which demonstrates flexibility in dealing with frequent changes and/or crises.
