Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • One (1) year prior experience working in early childhood education, or similar, is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain DIRFloortime 101 Certification within three (3) months of hire, is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain DIRFloortime Certificate of Proficiency within one (1) year of hire, is required.
  • Ability to meet the minimum qualifications of an Associate Teacher per New Hampshire Childcare Licensing Unit rules & regulations
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, children and families, listen well, and work effectively with others
  • Understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practice and positive behavior intervention and supports
  • Active First Aid & CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Work as an active team member in the Early Childhood Services Department to provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate, academic, social-emotional, and therapeutic services to neurotypical & neurodivergent children based on individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and play-based therapy (i.e. DIRFloortime) to meet & advance child development milestones.
  • Collaborates with Early Childhood Center of Excellence (ECCE) Teaching Staff to adapt and develop developmentally appropriate weekly plans and classroom schedules that align with classroom goals, therapeutic treatment plans, etc.
  • Assist the ECCE Teaching Staff with providing instructional guidance & responsive care and to all children in assigned classroom(s).
  • Directly supervise children and maintain safety compliance per NH Child Care Licensing Unit rules & Regulations, and National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation (NAEYC) Accreditation Standards.
  • Partner with Early Childhood Center of Excellence (ECCE) Teaching Staff to create, maintain, and build an inclusive classroom environment for children of all abilities.
  • Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into the program and lesson plans.
  • Complete clinical documentation assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to support children with disabilities, social & emotional issues, disruptive and physically aggressive behavior.
  • Promote and model good manners, hygiene and nutrition.
  • Assist in the daily and weekly maintenance of an organized, clean, safe and well-equipped classroom.
  • Adhere to all program and agency policies.
  • Participate in on-going staff development in alignment with NH Child Care Licensing Unit training requirements & NAEYC training requirements.
