About The Position

We are seeking a flexible and passionate Early Childhood Floater Teacher to join our team in the Kansas City Metro area. In this role, you will support multiple classrooms (infant, toddler, preschool, and pre-K), ensuring high-quality care and education across all ages. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys variety, values teamwork, and is open to flexible placement across age groups. Position Highlights: Pay Range: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour (based on experience) Schedule: 3 days per week, Monday – Friday day shifts Experience: At least 12 months in a licensed childcare or early education setting (required) Education: High school diploma or GED (required); Child Development Associate (CDA) or degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred) Location: Kansas City Metro (supporting infant through pre-K classrooms)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an early childhood classroom, daycare, or preschool setting (required)
  • Must meet state child care licensing requirements, including the ability to pass a fingerprint background check
  • obtain CPR/First Aid certification, and complete any required health screenings (TB test, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of child development stages from 6 weeks to 5 years.
  • Ability to engage and interact positively with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Strong classroom management techniques suited for young children, and the creativity and patience to handle varying behaviors and needs.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and dependable – willing to jump in wherever needed and adjust to different classroom environments throughout the day.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude and genuine love for working with children of all ages.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced early childhood education is a plus – a CDA credential or a degree in Early Childhood Education is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with multiple age groups or as a floater/substitute teacher is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Cover and assist in infant, toddler, preschool, and pre-K classrooms wherever needed, including providing break and absence coverage . Adapt quickly to each classroom’s routines to ensure consistency for children.
  • Child Care & Safety: Provide nurturing, age-appropriate care – from feeding and comforting infants to assisting with toddler potty training – while ensuring each child’s safety and well-being at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment in every room.
  • Learning & Play: Implement and support educational activities and play based on each classroom’s curriculum, from tummy time and sensory play for infants to circle time and learning centers for preschoolers . Foster a stimulating, fun atmosphere that promotes each child’s development.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with lead teachers in each classroom to follow lesson plans and routines. Communicate effectively with staff to understand daily goals, and contribute to a positive team environment. Be a reliable team player who can seamlessly step into any age group and work cooperatively.
