Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has a collaborative partnership between Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families. The Early Childhood Coordinator/Home Visitor will develop and maintain relationships with families enrolled in Educare’s home-based services. The Home Visitor is also responsible for planning and conducting 3 home visits a month for each of the 12 children assigned to them, with regular documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, or related required.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working with families and children ages birth to five.
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain supportive, productive relationships with families enrolled in the home visitation program.
  • Recruit and enroll families for the program to maintain full enrollment.
  • Plan for and conduct regular home visits to families (three times monthly for each child) using a Sixpence approved home visiting curriculum.
  • Develop and schedule the program’s group activities (minimum of one per month) for all enrolled families, in collaboration with the partner Home Visitor.
  • Conduct child screenings on an established schedule and make referrals to needed community services.
  • Work in collaboration with Sixpence Staff, program partners, and other community agencies in implementing the home-based services.
  • Promote parents’ overall involvement and participation in program, with a focus on building parents’ effective parenting skills through strengths-focused coaching and supports.
  • Maintain records and document services provided.
  • Participate in training and technical assistance activities including Sixpence sponsored group trainings, site visits, monthly conference calls, and web-based activities.
  • Develop relationships with other community-based service providers.
  • Identify services currently available and those needed by families.
  • Employee is seen as an ambassador to the organization.

  • Demonstrates ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and/or project requirements.
