About The Position

Ashley Hall School seeks a committed and professional Early Childhood Associate teacher, who, working in collaboration with the Lead teacher and Division Director, will be instrumental in creating and implementing a dynamic daily program for young children based on the school's philosophy and values, using constructivist theory and inspirations from Reggio Emilia. At Ashley Hall our Associate teachers serve in one of three capacities: supporting a single Lead teacher in the classroom, or floating between multiple classrooms in case of absence, additional classroom support needs; or providing targeted interventions and supports for a small group of students or an individual student Each one of the three Associate roles will involve planning, curriculum and instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, technology, and social studies, participating in collaborations with colleagues within the Early School division and throughout the school as a whole. Additionally, the Associate teacher attends all staff meetings and participates in required professional development The specific type of Associate role for which the successful candidate will be hired will be based on school need and candidate experience and will be clearly discussed with the candidate during the interview process. Other key responsibilities include building relationships with each child and their family providing a positive learning environment for children co-creating opportunities for growth of the whole child using positive guidance techniques co-teaching problem-solving and conflict resolution assessing students' learning and documenting it through digital media, and portfolios co-planning curriculum to be age, stage, and individually appropriate working with a Lead instructor to provide differentiated learning co-designing and delivering a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy that engages and honors all learners and embraces diverse perspectives co-preparing documentation for students and families partnering with parents about their child's progress maintaining a clean and orderly classroom, common areas and playground

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related field required, a Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • experience in a school setting, especially an independent school
  • A commitment to the teaching field
  • A commitment to differentiated learning and a strong pedagogical approach to supporting diverse learners
  • A commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to engage and honor all learners and embrace diverse perspectives

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity or experience teaching in a Reggio Emilia Program or an openness to learning about Reggio Emilia
