About The Position

Full-Time,10 Month-Faculty Non-Exempt Key School is seeking full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will have previous experience in early childhood education, understand the developmental needs of young children, demonstrate warmth and concern and employ creative instructional practices to engage learners. The assistant teacher works with the lead teacher to supervise students indoors and outdoors, implement the daily classroom plans and works with students individually and in small groups. The assistant teacher must understand and support the tenants of a play-based learning environment and communicate with the lead teacher to support student progress in all domains - social/emotional, cognitive and physical development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in an early childhood education setting
  • Maintain a current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google Meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Understands the age-appropriate milestones as well as the range of development for young children
  • Actively engage with children in small groups during structured and unstructured classroom time
  • Respect children’s ideas, feelings, abilities, and differences
  • Promotes principles of inclusive teaching in both classroom programs and practices
  • Collaborate with lead teacher to implement daily classroom activities
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor play
  • Attend and participate in specials classes
  • Assume responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher
  • Complete classroom administrative tasks
  • Complete all pre-service paperwork required by MSDE Office of Child Care
