About The Position

The YMCA University of Minnesota Early Childhood Learning Center is seeking Assistant Teachers, age 18+. This Full Time (year-round) Monday through Friday role includes an excellent benefits package, growth opportunity, free Y membership and more! Must meet Assistant Teacher qualifications for Minnesota DHS Rule 3. This position is eligible for additional grant funded hourly compensation, typically up to $2 hourly in addition to the regular hourly compensation. The salary range of this position is $17.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary. Under the direction of the CC Program Director and/or Assistant CC Program Director. The Child Care Assistant Teacher will support the teaching staff in implementing childcare programs. The incumbent will assist with carrying out the child care mission and values by providing high quality child care services to children and parents that focus on the YMCA core values: Equity, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.

Requirements

  • Meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 or Wisconsin HFS 46 Assistant Teacher qualifications, including yearly in service requirements.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
  • Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily plans and activities.
  • Maintain a positive classroom community
  • Supervise children and participate with children in activities.
  • Maintain program site and equipment.
  • Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and assist with parent conferences.
  • Complete daily observations and child evaluations.
  • Provide guidance for children's behavior.
  • Maintains CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
