Early Childhood 1:1 Teacher (3’s), Fluent Hebrew Speaker
About The Position
We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic 1:1 Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support a child in our 3-year old classroom. As a 1:1 Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the lead teacher and other specialists to appropriately engage the child in the classroom. About the School Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community and academic rigor.
Requirements
- Fluent Hebrew speaker
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare center, or similar setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow directions from lead teachers and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of the child.
- Monitor child during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring child’s safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide one-on-one support and assistance to child as needed, including helping with activities, reinforcing positive behavior, and addressing individual learning needs.
- Observe and document child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones. Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments and reports for parent communication and program evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with the lead teacher and other team members to plan and implement engaging and enriching learning experiences for child.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and other professional development
- Assist with meal/snack times, toileting routines, and other daily care tasks as needed.
- Support child in social emotional growth and development.
