About The Position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Oak Ridge office, you will perform a variety of electrical engineering design and construction support functions. This includes surveying and assessing existing facilities, planning, scoping, and estimating engineering efforts, conducting field work to assess existing conditions, writing reports, conceptual design, design development of drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses, assisting with cost estimating, and performing technical review of design packages. The role also requires directing the activities of more junior engineering staff for these tasks. For construction support, responsibilities include dispositioning Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), performing assessments on existing designs, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and issuing Design Change Notices (DCNs). Additionally, duties involve coordination with Quality on inspections, supporting the development of Scopes of Work for electrical subcontracts, and providing services during bidding and construction, such as answering requests for information, bid review, shop drawing review, site visits during construction, commissioning support, hosting progress meetings, and project closeout. The position is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and aims to provide solutions for building a better tomorrow.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution
  • 15 or more years of electrical engineering design experience
  • Construction support experience for construction engineering activities
  • Citizen of United States
  • Short Circuit Analysis experience
  • Very knowledgeable in the NEC
  • Experience leading groups of engineers and designers on major projects
  • Experience leading technical discussions with clients
  • Ability to independently produce sizing calculations and other analyses/reports
  • Experience in providing support or services during construction
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard on employees or others
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug, background check and site security badge screening
  • Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems is required, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection

Nice To Haves

  • PE License or the ability to obtain one
  • DOE or commercial nuclear experience desired
  • Experience providing designs under an NQA-1 quality system desired
  • Arc Flash Analysis experience
  • Grounding design experience
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation and Controls
  • Ability to author proposals and Statements of work is a plus
