About The Position

The Business Intelligence Developer I is an early career position responsible for the ongoing analysis of health care information, including patient care, financial, and demographic data. This role serves as a primary interface for data reporting, analysis, data integrity, and report design and delivery for Kern Health Systems (KHS). The incumbent is expected to possess strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of database schemas, table definitions in an RDBMS, and the use of Structured Query Language (SQL) for basic report writing and presentation. The position requires the use of analytical tools such as Business Objects, Excel, and SAS, knowledge of data analysis methodology, and proficiency in presentation software. Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering high levels of customer service are essential. The BI Developer I will perform data analysis for ad-hoc and planned customer requests, working with customers to develop and understand analysis and report specifications, and delivering data products in various formats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school or equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 2 years’ experience in report writing OR 4 years of experience as an Analyst in healthcare or similar organization with an emphasis on business reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding in database schemas and table definition of an RDBMS.
  • Understanding of the use of the structured query language (SQL) and end user reporting or data presentation.
  • Basic familiarity of the techniques used in relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
  • Ability to write simple two join queries using basic SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of data analysis methodology.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools (Business Objects, Excel, and SAS).
  • Experience in creating formulas, calculations, and graphs in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in presentation software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong commitment and affinity for delivering the highest level of customer service.
  • Detail-oriented and collaborative professionally with strong judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing analysis of health care information, including patient care, financial, and demographic data.
  • Serve as a primary interface for data reporting, analysis, data integrity, and report design and delivery for Kern Health Systems (KHS).
  • Perform data analysis in support of ad-hoc and planned customer requests.
  • Work with customers to develop and understand analysis and report specifications.
  • Deliver data products in report, presentation format, or verbally, to customer specifications and timelines with thoughtful evaluation of data.
  • Work with the Data Management and Reporting team to develop insightful, data-driven reports using the KHS Operational Data Store and Data Warehouse.
  • Work directly with internal business partners and management for data collection, data analysis, methodology, and documentation.
  • Work with end users to identify reporting requirements.
  • Track work efforts and keep personal work organized.
  • Create and maintain documentation for the Business Development team, reporting, methodologies, and other areas as needed.
  • Work and communicate effectively with the various professionals throughout the organization.
  • Resolve elevated help desk incidents, change management requests, or problem tickets as assigned.
