About The Position

The E-Book Associate sorts, evaluates, and prepares donated books for online sale, focusing on listing and maintaining inventory through e-commerce platforms. This role involves accurately describing items, taking photos, packing orders for shipment, and helping to ensure timely order fulfillment. Duties also include pulling and recycling slow-moving inventory, performing basic housekeeping, and adhering to all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and alphabetize accurately.
  • Basic math skills (e.g., handling discounts, proportions, and percentages) are helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect donated books to determine salability and categorize them for online selling.
  • Identify rare, collectible, and unique items suitable for e-commerce platforms.
  • Pull slow-moving or outdated listings for recycling or reassignment to other stores or channels.
  • Write accurate, creative listings with clear descriptions and correct spelling.
  • Evaluate and price items in accordance with established pricing guidelines.
  • Maintain familiarity with various literary categories to list items properly.
  • Use programs such as Google, eBay, Amazon, and Microsoft Office to manage and publish listings.
  • Print, process, and sort packing slips for daily orders.
  • Pack, seal, and label items for shipment, ensuring safe packaging.
  • Pack a high volume of inventory items according to packing standards.
  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped; assist with carrier pickup.
  • Assign shipments to appropriate carriers and record tracking numbers.
  • Monitors packing supply levels, establishing weekly orders for Manager approval.
  • Manages own time to complete assignments within established parameters.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance, monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner
  • Manage or assist with weekly supply orders (e.g., boxes, packing materials). Keep online inventory up to date by regularly rotating stock and posting fresh merchandise.
  • Transfer unsold or slow-moving items to designated recycling or salvage areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper storage of inventory.
  • Follow all company safety rules, regulations, and codes; attend safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming as needed.
  • May assist in any other tasks that contribute to efficient e-commerce operations.
