About The Position

The Dyslexia Teacher supports students in teaching and meeting their goals and manages the overall learning process for students with IEP/504 dyslexia eligibility. This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification
  • Dyslexia Certificate of Training, e.g. MTA, Take Flight, Reading Horizons, or similar dyslexia instruction programs)
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or similar area of study
  • Three (3) years of related work experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of applicable sections of the state education laws and other pertinent regulations
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrates the use of good judgment in decision-making
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as Internet research methods and report writing techniques; utilizes computer software associated with curriculum
  • Ability to travel 20% time for work including meetings, supporting in-person testing and professional development
  • Ability to clear required background check including obtain fingerprint clearance where applicable

  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience teaching reading or reading intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dyslexia instruction to identified students
  • Collaborate with students and learning coaches on implementation of IEP/504 plans
  • Evaluate and review student progress on a regular basis throughout the school year, and annually
  • Input student data in appropriate systems and maintain other student records as needed in a compliant manner
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, professional development (virtual and face-to-face) and school committees.
