About The Position

At Element U.S. Space & Defense, we support the nation’s defense and space missions by providing critical testing services that ensure safety, quality, and performance. Our internship program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience working alongside industry experts across our Dynamics, Ballistics, and Environmental testing departments. Interns will be exposed to real-world testing processes, advanced equipment, and cutting-edge projects that directly support aerospace and defense customers. This experience is designed to build practical skills, deepen technical knowledge, and provide meaningful insight into a career within the space and defense industry. All training will be provided.

Requirements

  • Under general supervision; completes intermediate technical and mechanical procedures, regularly interacts with clients, troubleshoots and reworks standard tests. Intermediate interpretation and analysis of test results
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical & Dynamics principles, working knowledge of basic safety practices; basic understanding of AC/DC circuits
  • Able to use all standard Dynamics equipment; able to accurately capture necessary data; basic MS Office skills
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Currently enrolled in a technical or engineering program of study
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Experience with hand tools
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Must be a US Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Test Setup - Read specifications from technical documents (Test Standards, Customer SOWs, and Test Plans/Procedures), identify/prepare test equipment
  • Perform Testing - Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed, troubleshoot, and document all pertinent data
  • Data Processing - After test completion, verify, review and document all pertinent data. Finalize data and send to the Program Manager
  • Lab Maintenance / Post-Test Breakdown - Physically remove test items. Maintain lab by cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, & organizing supplies
  • Other - Perform other duties as assigned
