About The Position

General Description and Classification Standards Processes complaint / service requests for residential property by researching property records and conducting field inspections for the Department of Watershed Management. Duties may include, but are not limited to: processing requests, managing field investigations, conducting easement research, determining liability, and managing request documentation. Supervision Received Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Processes complaint / service requests; queries asset management system for requests; prepares and sends a daily report to the Operations Manager and other team members. Manages complaint / service request documentation; prepares an investigation folder for each request consisting of tax assessment documents, sewer/storm plat maps, GIS maps and asset management system history; prepares a final report once research and investigation is complete, detailed synopsis of the findings and conclusion of the investigation; sends final report to supervisor for review; files completed investigation. Researches property records; reviews records for any type of asset (i.e. manholes, storm / sewer pipes and structures) on or near the property to determine relevance to complaint / service request. Manages field investigation; takes photos of the general problem and other contributing factors in and surrounding the area of concern, if possible; determines if easement research is necessary; prepares a field investigation report indicating what was observed during the investigation; prepares a simple sketch of the scene indicating any and all of the sewer / storm assets. Determines liability; communicates results of investigation to all involved parties, which may include City department(s) if further action is needed to correct / complete request. Prepares a change of title report for the investigation folder if easement research was conducted on the property.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: the principles property assessment.
  • Skill in: use of computer and standard business software packages; planning, organizing and managing work; in verbal and written communication; in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other departments and the public.
  • Ability to: read and comprehend property documentation; to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • 3-5 years' of work experience in a related area.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 3-5 years' of work experience in wastewater inspections or a related skill in the wastewater collections field.
