About The Position

To support the College of Veterinary Medicine curriculum which is designed using the Multidiscipline Laboratory (MDL) concept where a central staff provides support and technical assistance for student labs. This position provides primary coordination and support for DVM curricular courses involving a variety of subject matter such as small animal restraint techniques and physical exam, anesthesia, operating room procedures, dentistry, surgery, emergency medicine, clinical pathology, pharmacology, etc.

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
• Knowledge and experience in general laboratory operations and equipment.
• Experience with small animal general anesthesia and operating room procedures.
• Knowledge of animal (large & small) handling and restraint techniques.
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology as related to techniques and surgery.
• Ability to work efficiently and to organize equipment/supplies and work without supervision required and experience in these areas.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate several tasks at once, follow through on responsibilities such as equipment repairs and maintenance requests and handle detailed paperwork including accurate inventory listings required.
• Knowledge of computers with emphasis on word processing and simple spread sheets.

Nice To Haves

• Degree/coursework in Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Technology or related area.
• Previous experience with teaching and/or training veterinary professionals.
• Previous teaching lab assistance/support experience.
