About The Position

At Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics, our Durable Medical Equipment Technician (DME) plays an important role as part of our Clinic Team working with patients and athletes. The DME Technician will perform a variety of tasks including the fabrication and removal of casts and splints, application of orthopedic devices and removal of external orthopedic hardware. Elite is looking for an outgoing, detail-oriented individual that likes working with medical equipment and is open to learning new techniques. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Two years related medical experience preferred
  • ROT or OTC preferred
  • Two years of experience in a physician office or orthopedic setting (preferred)
  • Ability to manage patient load and the needs of the facility
  • Experience in bracing, fitting, casting and splinting (preferred)
  • Comfortable using Office programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of practice management, word processing software and EMR applications (Greenway preferred)
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
  • Good communication skills and the ability to perform patient education duties
  • Neat, professional appearance
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize

Responsibilities

  • Provide education to patients on the application, use, care and expected outcome for DME products as indication by the physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations
  • Insure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operation procedures and the organization.
  • Actively promote and foster good relations interdepartmentally and with suppliers, physicians and clinical/surgery center personnel
  • Track, maintain and order for DME, stem cells, custom braces, and medical supplies for all Elite facilities
  • Assist DME Coordinator with site profitability
  • Comply with all elements of HIPAA, Medicare and other required programs
  • DME delivery to Pre-Op, OR or recovery room as needed
  • Extensive knowledge of Cold Therapy Units and the ability to provide instruction to patients
  • Extensive knowledge of Breg Vision for ordering and receiving of inventory
  • Perform monthly inventory of all DME locations
  • Reconciling and revising of surgery schedule daily
  • Monitor and maintain logs for CTU’s, injections and casting/splinting
  • Maintaining of Autoclave and instruments including cleaning monthly
  • Storing and assigning of injections, such as HA, PRP, and stem cells
  • Facilitate and maintain relationships with vendors
  • Strive to help clinic staff as necessary and appropriate in times of need
  • Prepare and match all packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices for accounting prior to invoice due date
  • Conduct Audits to assist with inventory management and proper billing
  • DME Dispensement Audit (Daily)
  • HA injection Audit (Daily)
  • DME charge Audit (Monthly)
  • HA injection log Audit (Monthly/Quarterly)
