DSP Team Leader (ENT)
About The Position
The Day Services Team Leader is responsible for establishing and assuring that the daily program structure and service delivery are met with regard to regulatory and therapeutic standards by the interdisciplinary team. The Team Leader must possess excellent crisis intervention skills and the ability to make decisions to assure that necessary clinical objectives and safeguards are in place for each individual served. Additional responsibilities and qualities include, but are not limited to:Assuring the accurate completion of all program documentation requirements according to billing/regulatory standards and time frames. Facilitation of staff, as well as interdisciplinary meetings. Strong communication skills. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple responsibilities. Strong ability to problem-solve independently and with a team. Provide staff supervision of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Day Services Supervisors. Leading staff performance evaluations in alignment with DSP Core Competencies.Assuring appropriate level-of-care of the program.Providing the direct care responsibilities, including crisis interventions.A clean and valid driving record is required to maintain this position.
Requirements

- Must possess a strong knowledge of documentation regulatory requirements
- Assess, identify and implement necessary training to support the development of the Direct Support Professionals
- Leading staff performance evaluations in alignment with DSP Core Competencies

- Supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field and 6 months experience in the field.
- Associates Degree in related field with a minimum of 1-year experience in the field and 6 months supervisory experience in the field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with the IDD population with significant behavioral and/or clinical needs and 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Internal candidate with at least 2 years’ experience in the field and demonstrates capacity for increased responsibility.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., be able to walk, bend, squat, turn in the knees, back, wrists and shoulders, and grasp with both hands (in order to perform CPR/First Aid, Client Intervention Techniques, (SCIP) and Lifting and Carrying Techniques)
- Must be able to see and hear with or without correction
- Be able to communicate effectively
- Have basic computer skills, such data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets
- Be able to complete the Agency training programs and successfully pass associated tests to meet competency requirements
- Must pass a TB test twice
- A clean and valid driving record is required to maintain this position
Responsibilities
- Ensures that the program is operating effectively and required activities are being conducted
- Ensures that individual needs are being met
- Documents that the program follows state rules and guidelines
- Maintains individual files and records
- Assists in teaching behavior support plans
- Directs the spending of program money
- Reports facility and vehicle maintenance issues
- Responds to individual and program emergencies
- Supervise the staff and leads their activities with the individuals
- Schedules the staff to meet the needs of the program
- Participates in the hiring process and recommends candidates for hire
- Provides coaching and feedback, and completes staff performance agreements
- Implements staff discipline as needed
- Provides training on individuals and program activities and agency procedures and protocols and OPWDD regulations
- Approves and audits staff timesheets
- Assists individuals with achieving personal goals
- Works on behalf of individuals to overcome barriers
- Helps individuals participate in activities of their choice
- Respects individual’s personal beliefs, choices, and interests
- Provides care and assistance to promote good health
- Helps individuals receive medical care and communicates with medical professionals, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Administers medications, medical procedures according to physician instructions
- Records information regarding health events, conditions, and status
- Provides First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care when needed
- Helps individuals with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting
- Assists individuals with their mobility including lifting them from a seated or lying down position, helping them walk and maintain stability
- Helps individuals develop living skills such as cooking, money management, household shopping, doing laundry, personal hygiene, etc
- Assist with developing relationships connected to natural supports and records progress on skill development and achievement
- Serves as role model and mentor, demonstrating the desired behaviors
- Coaching individuals using approved techniques and strategies
- Uses approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to protect individuals and others
- Maintains cleanliness of program
- Drives company vehicle to transport individuals to their activities
- Completes tasks that are beyond the individual’s abilities
- Follows policies and procedures for handling money
- Acts in a professional and visionary manner and communicates effectively with others
- Completes training programs
- Trains others as required and attends required meetings
