DSP Assistant
About The Position
As a Direct Support Professional Assistant, you will participate as a member of the team and foster an environment that supports individuals in pursuit of their hopes, dreams, and personal outcomes. You will address any situations that may arise and ensure a safe and secure environment. You will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety for the individuals we support through direct interaction. Requirements
- Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
- Experience and/or training of at least one year with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Medication administration training required (may be obtained after turning 18 years of age)
- First Aid training required, and CPR Certificate may be required (may be obtained after hire)
- Bureau of Criminal Affairs background study clearance required
- Driver's license required
- Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required upon turning 18 years of age
- Cannot drive an LSS vehicle until 18 years of age, completed vehicle safety training and implementation of an MVR
- Ability to read, write, and use computer skills required
- Basic math and problem-solving skills required
- Ability to recognize boundaries
- Ability to suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service
- Patience, self-control, and flexibility
- Computer skills that support LSS technology
