About The Position

Under the general direction of the ASC Administrator, the ASC Supervisor is responsible for supporting staff and helping with the implementation of clinical and front office operations at our Surgical Center. Responsibilities include providing administrative and clinical support to the team, especially in the areas of quality assurance, scheduling and staffing. While striving to ensure the highest level of patient care and customer service representing EHN in a professional, friendly manner. Supervisory Responsibilities This position directly supervises non-supervisory employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with EHN policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities could include assisting with interviewing, participation in hiring, and training employees; plan and assign work schedule; assisting with appraising performance; coaching and developing employees; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in a medical setting.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities for the successful performance of the essential job duties.
  • Current LPN or RN licensure in good standing in the State of Oregon, preferred but not required
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to resolve issues and problems.
  • Ability to manage staff and resources in an effective and efficient manner, and to effectively guide, develop and motivate staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all persons contacted while providing supervision at the surgery center.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task; must be organized and flexible to change course of work as circumstances dictate and be effectively responsive in emergency situations.
  • Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions.
  • Must be computer literate, possess basic math skills, and be highly organized and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skill, with the ability to work cooperatively and always interact in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Manual/finger dexterity as necessary to perform daily job duties.
  • Frequently required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; lift, push, pull and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Frequently required to bend, squat, stoop or twist.
  • Potential exposure to biohazardous materials, bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals associated with a surgical/medical environment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and monitors operational activities for effective and efficient daily operation, reports deficiencies to ASC Administrator.
  • Assists with staffing, scheduling, cross-training employees to ensure adequate coverage and flexibility in response to changing patient needs.
  • Collaborates with leaders within the ASC to help develop and implement effective operational processes and workflows.
  • Support and participate in quality assurance activities, assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and center standards.
  • Assists ASC staff in identifying and solving problems.
  • Participates in primary care of patients as needed.
  • Assists in the evaluation of personnel performance and works to continuously improve the quality of care and services. Observes performance of staff members and provides feedback to ASC Administrator.
  • Ability to separate self from staff as a supervisor; holds self as a leader not a friend.
  • Ensures that equipment is properly maintained in good working condition, report defective or non-functioning equipment.
  • Attend in-service programs as required.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Could require running departmental errands, and completing miscellaneous tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of the center.
  • Other duties which may be necessary or desirable to serve the patient and support the success of the department or the company overall.
