About The Position

The Drug Product Characterization Intern is responsible for supporting experiments, immunoassays, and technical procedures under supervision. The intern will assist in the antigen preparation, vaccine formulations and the development, optimization, and qualification of analytical assays. Responsibilities include collecting and documenting research data, maintaining laboratory notebooks, and assisting with general laboratory maintenance.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS or BA in life sciences or related field; with preference given to 3rd and 4th year students.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Writing skills include routine communications and technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small groups and lab meetings
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT) as well as job related electronic systems/applications.
  • Proficient in applying established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and protocol development, with adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards preferred.
  • Exhibit high level of service orientation, confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with general supervision to deliver work product
  • High attention to detail and deliver work of expected quality in a timely manner
  • High level of interest in learning and applying skills in a business environment
  • Valid Driver’s license required for occasional travel between SAB site locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and protocol development, with adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, optimization, and qualification of analytical assays.
  • Assist in the conduct of routine laboratory assays, such as ELISAs, cell-based assays, and bioassays.
  • Assist in preparing antigen, vaccine and/or adjuvant formulations according to protocols.
  • Collect and document research data, maintaining laboratory notebooks.
  • Assist in writing ROPs, SOPs and documentation related to assays/procedures as needed.
  • Assist in general laboratory maintenance, including ordering supplies and preparing reagent solutions.
  • Assist other projects in the department or from other departments as assigned.
