About The Position

Support the expansion of the OCRM High School Diploma Program by providing educational counseling, assistance, and academic support to the students at the Double R Ranch in effort to meet the needs and outcomes of completing high school credits and passing the Hi-SET equivalency exam. In addition, this position is responsible for developing DRR's vocational program under Mission University, including creation, implementation, and administration of vocational certificate program for DRR student job assignments. Our vision for the program is to provide Double R Ranch students with the academic support and guidance needed to positively and effectively move them through the completion of their high school credits and successful completion and passing scores of the Hi-SET in effort to allow students to achieve the goal of graduation with a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate. Our goal is to empower students through education, which will ultimately assist them in career development and self-sufficiency upon their exit from the Double R Ranch. This is a part-time role at our DRR Ranch location in 19292 El Toro Rd, Silverado, CA 92676. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8am - 12pm.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree (BA)
Experience: 2-3 yrs of job related work experience.
Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Math Skills: Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
Reasoning: Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Provide initial student consultation and request transcripts from last high school attended by students.
Verify graduation or non-graduation status through transcripts.
Plan and instruct within multiple subjects (ie. Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading/Writing) with lessons based off the HI-SET requirements.
Prepare lessons, activities, and have curriculum for volunteer teachers and tutors. Email and correspond with volunteer teachers and tutors their lessons prior to them meeting with their DRR HS student.
Oversee the creation, implementation, and administration of vocational certificate program for DRR student job assignments.
Coordinate with Adult Education Program administrators to determine credits and classes needed for completion of high school diploma.
Assess and monitor students' educational needs and progress.
Maintain well organized and accurate documentation of credits completed to be shared with Adult Ed.
Report student progress to OCRM Success Center Manager and DRR Case Managers.
Document student study hall attendance and submit issues to case management.
Facilitate and follow up on one-to-one tutorial assistance between volunteer tutors and DRR students; during the weekly class sessions as well as Study Hall and Saturday day sessions.
Hold various walk-in tutorial hours throughout the week to assist students with completion of coursework during their available study hours.
Hold orientation sessions for new volunteer tutors - daily/weekly follow ups with volunteers and tutors to keep them in touch with the DRR student educational needs.
Maintain an active pool of volunteer tutors to assist with DRR students in completion of coursework working with the OCRM volunteer coordinator.
Act as a liaison between volunteer tutors, DRR students, and OCRM Success Center Manager.
Collect data and statistics on the success of program and analyze where improvements can be made.
Maintain H.S. diploma programs for Double R Ranch.
