Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center is a pioneering provider of care, education and hope for children with some of the most challenging medical complexities any person can face. Featuring the largest long term residential medical center of its kind in the United States. The ambulette/van driver is responsible for transporting residents of the Children's Center to and from outpatient, non-emergent hospital services, and recreational trips, to various locations within tri-state area, including the five boroughs of New York City. POSITION SUMMARY To transport Children’s Center residents to and from outpatient and non-emergent hospital services at various healthcare facilities within the five boroughs of New York City and to transport residents to trips scheduled by the Recreation Therapy department and by the Elizabeth Seton Children’s School. JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Drives the Ambulette to convey children and accompanying adults to clinic, day surgery and other medical appointments. Uses the safest most efficient routes to and from trip destinations. Ensures that children are safely secured while en-route to destination. Makes recommendation regarding safety before during and after trips. Lifts residents, wheelchairs, equipment and assistive devices on and off the van. Completes a checklist of daily vehicle use; ensures that fuel is adequate and the vehicle is clean and in good condition. Maintains adequate records of all trips and expenses. Coordinates with unit clerks, recreation therapy and JAC School personnel regarding transportation schedule. Responsible for pick-up and delivery of mail at post office and sorts as necessary in mailroom Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
