About The Position

Eagle Star Housing is a non-profit organization in Upstate New York providing transitional housing and supportive services to Veterans and individuals experiencing housing instability since 2012. The organization seeks a qualified candidate to drive residents of a Permanent Supportive Housing program located in Binghamton, NY. This program serves individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces and those with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who require supportive services to live independently. The Driver will provide transportation for residents to appointments, employment, activities, and grocery stores. The role requires coordination and collaboration with the Housing Director and Assistant Case Manager to identify transportation needs, and the ideal candidate will be a good team player with a positive, kind, and compassionate attitude.

Requirements

  • An unrestricted license is mandatory.
  • Ability to make independent decisions as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of computer technology.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, residents, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting residents to necessary locations depending on their needs.
  • Respects and maintains resident confidentiality and demonstrates a positive and caring attitude toward all residents and staff.
  • Practices and promotes positive peer and resident relations.
  • Maintains clear communications with the Housing Director regarding house needs and incidents.
  • Maintains a continuous physical presence within the program during working hours and responds to request for assistance.
  • Maintains positive and collaborative relationship with leasing agent.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Assists with implementation of policies and programs.
  • Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the program.
  • Attends staff meetings and other meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
