About The Position

Drivers transport donated goods, supplies, and salvage materials between Goodwill stores, Attended Donation Centers, and the distribution center. Drivers ensure safe vehicle operation, timely route completion, and proper loading and unloading of materials. This role supports the mission of Improving People’s Lives Through the Power of Work by ensuring donated goods are handled safely, efficiently, and responsibly to maximize mission impact and revenue generation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Class D or Class A Louisiana license and personal insurance.
  • Forklift certification required or must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • A background screening and drug test will be completed as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass DOT physical.
  • Safe vehicle operation
  • Knowledge of delivery logistics
  • Understanding of DOT compliance
  • Ability to secure loads safely
  • Strong situational awareness and safety focus

Nice To Haves

  • Previous truck driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates company vehicles to transport donated goods, supplies, and materials between stores, donation centers, and distribution facilities.
  • Completes scheduled transportation routes and adjusts as needed based on operational needs.
  • Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any issues immediately.
  • Reports accidents, vehicle damage, or mechanical concerns according to agency procedures.
  • Loads and unloads materials safely at stores, donation centers, and warehouse locations.
  • Secures all materials in the vehicle to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Picks up returnable merchandise and materials from designated locations.
  • Delivers materials to assigned locations and ensures accurate completion of delivery documentation.
  • Maintains communication with distribution leadership regarding routes, delays, and operational issues.
  • Safely operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle and transportation equipment.
  • Uses required personal protective equipment and follows safe material handling procedures.
  • Complies with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and agency transportation policies.
  • Maintains professional interactions with store staff, donors, and coworkers.
  • Participates in required safety drills, training sessions, and operational meetings.
  • Reports equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems promptly.
  • Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance, follow safety procedures, maintain a professional appearance, and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support warehouse and distribution operations.
