We’re hiring a Driver Trainer for Fairview and Lafayette, NJ — someone who not only holds a CDL, but truly understands the WM Way. This role is ideal for a current Designated Driver Trainer or someone who has completed the WM training program and is committed to developing safe, confident, high‑performing drivers. You’ll coach new and experienced drivers, conduct OBAs, support retraining after incidents, reinforce OSHA/DOT/WM standards, and help shape a strong safety culture. Candidates with roll‑off and front‑load experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for coaching will thrive here. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
  • The CDL is a requirement, therefore, an applicant must be 18 years of age.
  • Driving experience, driver training, and safety training may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Trains and coaches new and existing drivers on use of applicable tools, equipment, and in fundamental routing practices; transfers expertise to drivers.
  • Develops and delivers training to new and existing drivers on OSHA, DOT, and Waste Management policies and driving standards.
  • Trains and coaches the High Risk Employees / Repeaters Plan, ensuring aggressive, constructive intervention with employees immediately following first safety incident.
  • Re-trains after accidents, near misses, and/or negative observations.
  • Schedules and conducts Observation Behavior Assessments (OBAs) to evaluate driver knowledge, operating behaviors, and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Follows-up observations with constructive coaching and retraining when deficiencies are observed.
  • Conducts employee interviewing, testing, hiring and evaluation. Plans and conducts new employee orientation.
  • Investigates, reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedure and monitors for compliance.
  • Assists investigations of accidents and emergency spills.
