Job Summary The Driver Technician is responsible for the safe operation of a DOT-regulated vehicle to transport materials and equipment between locations. In addition to driving responsibilities, this role performs field service activities at customer sites, including troubleshooting and supporting mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems (based on business unit requirements). This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while interfacing directly with customers across multiple sites and technologies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to obtain required customer clearances (e.g., TWIC, DISA)
  • Ability to obtain a valid passport and travel across borders if needed
  • Completion of all required DOT documentation and driver qualification forms, including: Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Driver Application for Employment Drug & Alcohol Compliance Documentation Medical Certificate Driver Qualification File requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 0–2 years of technical experience (1+ year preferred)
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, diesel, or related systems
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly
  • Ability to manage varying routes, including overnight and complex travel conditions
  • Understanding of load securement, weight distribution, and DOT requirements

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate DOT-regulated vehicles to transport equipment and materials
  • Perform field service activities at customer locations in a safe and efficient manner
  • Troubleshoot and support mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems as needed
  • Identify and resolve safety issues on both company and customer-owned equipment
  • Maintain a safe work environment and promote a strong safety culture
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
  • Protect and maintain company equipment and property
  • Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to travel overnight as needed
