We are seeking seasoned shop and field technicians/mechanics with experience in similar heavy equipment dealerships to join our third-generation, family-owned organization. Primary duties include operate truck and trailer for pickup and delivery of diesel generators, compressed air, and HVAC. Repair, service, inspect and prepare equipment for delivery. Set-up of equipment and accessories at job site including electrical cable, air hose, water hose, and electrical panels. Instruct client on safe and proper operation of equipment. Communicate information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations. Maintain delivery and pickup schedule. An after-hours on call rotation required to assist with client emergency calls before/after regular business hours.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A Commercial Driver license with no restrictions.
  • Must be able to obtain a Hazmat endorsement within 90 days.
  • At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Keep safety as a priority in the work environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment. (eTRAIN test)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Own and maintain required personal tools.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.

Responsibilities

  • Operate truck and trailer for pickup and delivery of diesel generators, compressed air, and HVAC.
  • Repair, service, inspect and prepare equipment for delivery.
  • Set-up of equipment and accessories at job site including electrical cable, air hose, water hose, and electrical panels.
  • Instruct client on safe and proper operation of equipment.
  • Communicate information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations.
  • Maintain delivery and pickup schedule.
  • An after-hours on call rotation required to assist with client emergency calls before/after regular business hours.
  • Operate loads and prepares equipment to be hauled.
  • Ensure all loads are properly prepared, loaded and secured to avoid shifting, loosening, or falling while enroute.
  • Accurately logs time and hours of equipment use.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit all required reports, logs, and forms such as trip logs, manifest and timecards.
  • Check the manifest against all material picked up or delivered at each stop.
  • Perform a thorough check of the truck before and after each stop.
  • Comply with all Federal ICC, DOT, state and local traffic and highway laws, rules, and regulations for over-the-road driving of trucks.
  • Report any hauling equipment operation trouble noticed during each trip.
  • Maintain pickup and delivery time schedules.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair work on equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Give full, courteous cooperation and prompt service to customers.
  • Maintain company equipment – keeps in good clean orderly condition.
  • Report repair or replacements needs to supervisor.
  • Work safely at all times.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety policies.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain company equipment by checking fuel, oil, water, tires etc on truck and equipment before starting.
  • Prepare before and stow away after each trip (chains, blocks and gear).
  • Gather information from a walk around inspection and reports to customer/management.
  • Prepare the Drivers Inspection report – complete daily.
  • Communicate orally and in writing information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations.
  • Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
  • Provide on-the-job training as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Travel to remote locations as needed.
  • Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
