This role ensures the overall health of operations by partnering closely with operational leads, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance across all aspects of driver management. The Driver Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, oversee a centralized 24/7 operational support service, and ensure efficient workflows, timely issue resolution, and scalable support as the organization grows. By separating driver management from day-to-day operational execution, this role allows operational leaders to focus on service delivery while maintaining high performance, engagement, and accountability across the driver workforce.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of DOT and Federal compliance, transportation regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience overseeing operational support functions, ideally including 24/7 service operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement scalable processes and drive operational efficiency across multiple locations.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with experience tracking, interpreting, and reporting operational metrics.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence cross-functional teams, and partner effectively with operational leaders.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the driver workforce and operational support staff to ensure high performance, engagement, and retention.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between drivers, operational teams, and leadership, facilitating clear communication, issue escalation, and resolution.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and compliant work environment, addressing employee concerns, conflicts, and performance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives for drivers and operational support staff to maintain workforce readiness and performance standards.
  • Responsible for driver fleet scheduling and capacity as it relates to time-off and service hours compliance.
  • Partner with operational leads to monitor the overall health of operations, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Monitor real-time performance using TruckMate, YMS, and Samsara dashboards.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and planning teams to optimize communication to drivers and ensure timely results for customers.
  • Track, analyze, and report operational metrics, including driver utilization, turnover, safety compliance, and performance indicators, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Coordinate driver scheduling, dispatch, and logistics operations to optimize utilization and meet operational goals.
  • Partner with the Safety Team to ensure driver compliance with hours-of-service regulations, transportation safety standards, and company policies across all shifts and locations.
  • Oversee safety and operational procedures to maintain regulatory compliance and protect employees, assets, and customers.
  • Oversee and manage the 24/7 operational support team, including staffing, workflows, scheduling, and escalation protocols.
  • Implement scalable processes, standard operating procedures, and best practices to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
  • Continuously evaluate operational workflows and systems in partnership with operational leads to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality improvements.
  • Ensure operational alignment across multi-location operations, facilitating collaboration between driver teams, operational support, and leadership.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
