About The Position

JOB TITLE: Driver Manager LOCATION: Midland, TX POSITION REPORTS TO: Terminal Manager SCHEDULE: Night shift. Overtime and weekends will be required. On call 24/7. Occasional travel, with overnight stay may be required. COMPENSATION: Commensurate with skills and experience

Requirements

  • Must be local to Midland, or willing to relocate (must live within 60 miles of the Sun Coast terminal)
  • Valid class A license with tanker / hazmat endorsements and a good driving record
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of FMCSA/DOT regulatory guidelines
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel programs
  • Flexible schedule – come in early, stay late, and work on weekends, On call availability 24/7
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Flexibility and ability to conform to shifting priorities, responsibilities, strategies, demands and timelines
  • Ability to provide employees with feedback, performance standards, clear instructions, and expectations
  • Ensure employees have the tools and resources to do their job
  • Coach and guide team members while assessing strengths and opportunities
  • Ensure there is two-way communication with all team members
  • Provide a positive and effective work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience in the fuel transportation industry

Responsibilities

  • Manage drivers, including job performance, coaching and progressive discipline
  • Conduct safety meetings with drivers
  • Assist in collecting pre-employment and training documentation, ensure routing to appropriate department
  • Perform audits for mainstream deliveries
  • Enforce all DOT regulations, procedures and policies
  • Ensure the overall health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of all trucks
  • Respond to and assist drivers with any complications or issues
  • Follow up on driver concerns with delivery locations
  • Handle driver concerns, complaints and issues promptly and courteously
  • Investigate spills and cross drops
  • Brief manager on daily issues
  • Communicate with other departments, staff groups and customers regarding drivers
  • Ensure schedules are met and deliveries to are done in a timely fashion
  • Enforce and follow Sun Coast’s accident and incident reporting procedures for accidents and spills
  • Maintain a qualified driver status according to all related DOT regulations
  • Conduct check rides with drivers to help improve efficiencies and improve performance
  • Assist in gate checks to ensure that drivers have proper documentation, and the equipment is in good order with no defects.
  • Other related tasks as assigned by manager
