About The Position
"Accelerate your career as a Drivers License Examiner I and steer individuals toward their driving goals!" The Department of Customer Services (CSD), Division of Motor Vehicles, is looking to fill six (6) Driver License Examiner Ipositions located at various driver licensing centers on the island of O'ahu. This position is responsible foradministering written and visual acuity tests and conducting road performance tests to determine applicant eligibility for motor vehicle driver license categories 1 through 3. As a Driver License Examiner I, your duties and responsibilities will include: Administering written and oral examinations and conducting road performance tests to determine applicants' eligibility for various operators licenses. Issuing driver licenses and instructions permits. Scoring administered test. Applying knowledge of traffic laws and ordinances. Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position. Requirements
- At time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
- Two (2) years of supervisory, driver training instructional, regulatory or related experience,including or supplementedby one (1) year of frequent public contact which involved explaining rules and regulations to others indetermining their eligibility or non-eligibility for licenses, benefits or similar matters.
- Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (Type 3), at the time of application.
- Candidates must possess a good driving record, as evidenced by a certified traffic abstract with no moving violations within the past three (3) years, in order to be appointed to positions in this class; and must possess an appropriate valid driver's license for at least three (3) years immediately preceding appointment.
