The Materials Management Driver (Commercial Vehicle) is primarily tasked with operating large trucks, delivery vans and other Carilion vehicles to make equipment and supply deliveries between the various Carilion Clinic facilities. In addition, the Materials Management Driver (Commercial Vehicle) must be prepared to perform the activities of a Warehouse Materials Associate II including: standard receiving and stocking tasks, such as unloading delivery trucks, sorting items by receiving priority, identifying and documenting damaged deliveries, rotating inventory, storing materials for easy access at primary pick locations, and performing quality assurance (QA) activities. Must adhere to VA DOT requirements for the size and weight of vehicles used. Provides exceptional customer service to requesters / end users, Buyers, and other warehouse teams. Makes deliveries and transports equipment and supplies (e.g. large warehouse trucks, vans & courier) to and from Carilion facilities in a timely manner. Transports and delivers the applicable items to the correct destinations in a timely manner and based on routing specifications. Adheres to and observes proper fleet operations and regulations including DOT and OSHA, maintains vehicles and observes safety procedures as part of a daily routine. Maintains all necessary logs as required by the company Federal, State or local agencies Loads and unloads medical items from Carilion vehicles and ensures specimens, medicines, equipment, or documents are properly maintained and safely secured based on specific company requirements. Operates forklifts, pallet jacks and other manual lift equipment as part of warehouse duties. Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip maintenance and safety inspection. Inspects and signs for deliveries. Team member is responsible for noting all shortages and damages to prevent poor patient outcomes and monetary loss for Carilion. Team member is consistent in their communication with the Inventory Team on all shipment discrepancies. Works with fellow members of the warehouse team to identify and address items that should be prioritized for receiving. Utilizing an Inventory Management System, ensures that received item quantities are accurately entered in and, when needed, discrepancies are properly documented in the inventory management system and on packing slips. Failure to accurately record inventory could lead to poor patient outcomes and significantly jeopardize Carilions financial relationship with our vendor community. Maintains a well-organized delivery record system The delivery system prevents the loss of goods and provides documentation of the transfer of liability from one entity to another. Efficiently resolves all order-related inquiries / requests within service portal software as needed. Stocks items utilizing the inventory management system. Ensures that items are rotated by date to prevent a negative patient outcome or financial loss. Notifies management of all discrepancies. Accurately and consistently creates and maintains all back stock process. Maintains a high level of customer service for other warehouse employees and downstream customers by performing scheduled and as-needed QA activities, including inspecting and maintaining the cleanliness of inventory racks, bins, and labels. Escalates item discrepancies, order-delivery inconsistencies, and quality standard exceptions to leadership. Documents and communicates via email, verbal, and utilizes the electronic customer service portal as needed. Maintains Proper Driver's License and Health Card (Driving record as required by Carilion policy.
