About The Position

The Rack/Cart Collector role involves recovering racks/carts from retail stores within the region. This primarily includes tearing down, packing, loading, and unloading garden center racks used for transporting and displaying retail products. This is a seasonal position, typically from spring to fall, and is paid hourly with an incentive bonus based on the number of carts retrieved daily. The company is seeking both a full-time and a part-time seasonal person. This is a highly physical and labor-intensive job, requiring individuals to be physically fit and able to lift 40 pounds above their head. Due to the size of the carts, being 5'8" or taller is beneficial. The position involves working outdoors and being exposed to various weather conditions, including the heat of summer. It requires driving a pickup truck with either a bumper pull or gooseneck enclosed trailer up to 26' in length, and prior experience pulling a trailer is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Driving experience, including trailer towing
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Valid Class B or Class C driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to independently problem solve issues while collecting
  • Possess a clean driving record
  • Work effectively in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly stand, push, pull and lift
  • Experience pulling a trailer

  • Beneficial to be 5'8" or taller

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment before embarking on daily collection schedule to verify safe and reliable operation.
  • Operate company vehicles (truck and trailer) by driving them along pre-established routes around the local region.
  • Disassemble racks/carts into various pieces, stack them for transportation, load them into trailer and unload daily at warehouse when collection is complete.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment by performing basic functions, such as cleaning, filling gas tanks or changing essential fluids.
  • Communicate with management about road work, unsafe sites, equipment issues, accidents, or other incidents.
  • Maintains all records, documentation, and files associated with this role.
  • Providing general warehouse support when needed. This can include operating equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.), picking orders and supporting general facility maintenance.
  • Communicating and coordinating with colleagues as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
