The Drilling Technician supports drilling operations by assisting supervisors, superintendents, and managers in executing each drilling site safely and efficiently. This role performs daily administrative tasks, operates drill rigs, coordinates site needs, and ensures equipment and job sites remain clean, organized, and well‑maintained. A successful candidate is safety‑focused, reliable, adaptable, and capable of strong communication under tight deadlines. This position is primarily based in Colorado with minimal travel.

Requirements

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pivot quickly between tasks and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of environmental or geotechnical drilling experience
  • Knowledge of safe ground disturbance practices
  • Ability to work with state regulations and related entities
  • “Quick starter” mentality—able to initiate tasks without delay
  • CDL‑A required
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10‑Hour Certification
  • HAZWOPER 40‑Hour
  • 5+ years drilling experience
  • Oil and gas experience (preferred, not required)
  • Knowledge of environmental remediation
  • Experience with soil boring classifications

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily timecards
  • Manage DVIRs, JSAs, incident reports, and equipment inspections
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and managers
  • Communicate equipment needs and service requirements
  • Report material needs and personnel requirements
  • Provide daily tracking of subcontractors on-site, material import/export, and equipment usage
  • Operate drill rigs safely and efficiently
  • Work closely with Supervisors, the Superintendent, and Managers to meet or exceed daily production goals
  • Maintain strict adherence to site safety and PPE requirements
  • Build positive relationships with clients and team members
  • Ensure crew members properly fuel, grease, and maintain drill rigs
  • Perform general labor tasks including hand auguring, shoveling, and lifting as needed
  • Secure and shut down the job site at the end of each workday
