About The Position

Provides well site service to customers utilizing knowledge of company products and services in conjunction with experience in drilling fluid technology to optimize service quality and rig performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and a minimum of two to three years oilfield experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Drilling Fluids Technology training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance to maximize rig performance and well stability based on interpreted results of routine and specialized testing.
  • Interprets drilling fluid programs and follows mix recommendations for each well.
  • Schedules the drilling fluid sack and bulk materials to location.
  • Maintains and supervises an adequate inventory of palletized and bulk products that are available at rig site based on fluid program and anticipated well conditions.
  • Tracks and reports on daily material usage.
  • Oversees solids control operations on location and makes sure all equipment is running properly and in specification of the program. Provides daily solids control report that follows sampling schedule provided.
  • Oversees cellar pumps on surface section of well to ensure proper operations are being following.
  • Communicates daily with Ops Coordinator to ensure solids control equipment plan is being followed.
  • Provides assistance with trackhoe operations when the situation permits.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with rig personnel and assists in specific operation's planning and drilling optimization.
  • Troubleshoots and provides expertise as well problems arise.
  • Generates complete drilling fluid report on a daily basis.
  • Creates and submits a recap that includes well data and lessons learned at the end of the well.
  • Mentors lower level technicians and assists in their succession plan as their experience level grows.
  • Assists in training and mentoring of new employees.
