General Summary Granite Construction Company is a union contractor and is seeking an experienced Driller & Blaster in the Santa Ynez, CA area. General Summary This role is responsible for safely drilling, shot layout, shot loading, magazine maintenance, and complying with all regulations. Additionally, the candidate may be expected to work at the associated rock plant or asphalt plant as needed. Requirements

  • Experience operating an Atlas Copco or D7 or similar drill.
  • Blasting license from the State of California
  • Certificate of Eligibility from the State of California
  • Ability to become an Authorized User as determined by the ATFE
  • 4 years of experience blasting at a mine site
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct daily
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
  • Certificate of eligibility from California DOD
  • This is a union-represented position. The selected candidate will be required to join the union as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Production drilling for approximately 900 hours per year.
  • Loading shots approximately 300 hours per year
  • Rock plant and asphalt clean up and/or maintenance as needed up to 800 hours per year
