About The Position

This position is for a Drexel co-op student in the Spring/Summer term. This is a full time (40 hours per week) position based out of the Philadelphia office. Job responsibilities include assisting with traffic engineering assignments such as plan development, traffic data analysis, field inventory, quantity calculations, and cost estimating. Basic Functions: Work on projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region including traffic calming, field data collection, roadway improvement projects, design of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, highway safety, work zones, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), corridor planning, signing, lighting, pavement markings, and developing creative solutions to complex projects. Assist with the design and operation of intelligent transportation systems, and traffic control devices including signal timing and phasing documents. Assist with the research and analysis of traffic related topics.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in traffic engineering
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Classwork in traffic engineering
  • Participation in professional societies (ASCE, ITE)
  • Applicable prior intern (Co-Op) experience
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or GIS
  • Exposure to traffic related software (HCS, Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM)
