About The Position

This individual's responsibility will be to design, develop, implement, supervise, and provide specialized training and services to clients in the program. This person may handle an independent caseload and assist other personnel by ensuring proper referral of clients to all appropriate services and resources available and necessary to them. These services and resources may include education and employment, housing, recovery and prevention services, and aftercare supports. Duties may include, but not be limited to providing intake services to clients; preparing and making reports, recommending continuing care plans, assisting other staff members in the performance of a variety of difficult and varied work duties such as planning vocational/employment activity sessions, conducting workshops for skill building, resume writing, computer literacy, etc. and keeping necessary records within client database and electronic health record; coordinating the activities of one or more groups of clients; and generating referrals and aftercare plans. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but the person is expected to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in achieving objectives. Work will be reviewed by the Program Manager or Clinical Supervisor through the completion of assignments.

Requirements

  • Specialized training and experience in working with specific population, to include those impacted by the justice system.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and procedures involved in substance use disorder program.
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol abusing subculture, individuals impacted by the criminal justice system, and those persons needing assistance with vocational/educational and employment needs.
  • Knowledge of the physical and emotional characteristics and manifestations of alcohol and drug dependency.
  • Knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with them.
  • Knowledge of the continuum of care, as it relates to drug and alcohol treatment.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and all other applicable federal and state regulations in reference to specialty area, and ability to ensure program compliance.
  • Ability to perform needs assessment and develop appropriate programming.
  • Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to specific problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, and other members of staff, outside agencies and institutions, and the general public.
  • Ability to design, implement and train others pertaining to the specialty area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to present effective seminars, workshops, and presentations to clients, staff and the community.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment

Responsibilities

  • Treat all clients and staff with dignity and respect
  • Attend all team / staff meetings as required by Supervisor
  • Role model pro-social behavior
  • Responsible for conducting and documenting intake interviews, and orientation to care coordination for services needed for vocational/workforce development.
  • Be responsible for a caseload of clients, as identified by program requirements and in accordance with state regulations
  • Complete progress notes for all client-related activities.
  • Coordinate with agency and community resources to ensure thorough program activities and discharge plans.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with service providers and referral sources
  • Assist clients with connecting to resources needed to reach personal goals.
  • Responsible for liaison with clinical staff for review and verification of recommended services and collateral contact information.
  • Completion of Vocational/Workforce Development Plan in coordination with client and primary clinical counselor
  • Responsible for identifying additional wrap-around services needs to include, but not limited to health care and recovery support needs.
  • Responsible for assisting clients in getting to the next level of care (if applicable) by removing barriers, providing reminders, and conducting outreach when appropriate
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with services and programs. These linkages will include but are not limited to treatment, health care, employment, legal, housing, child welfare, social services, peer-support providers, etc.
  • Maintains client records and completes all other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and funding source guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
