About The Position

The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for an anticipated Drama Advisor to support the Park Forest Middle School Drama Club during the 2026-2027 School Year. Teaches acting principles and techniques to individuals and groups and conducts readings to evaluate students’ talent. Teaches enunciation, diction, voice development, and dialects, using voice exercises, speech drills, explanation, lectures, and improvisation. Discusses and demonstrates vocal and body expression to teach acting styles, character development, and personality projection. Directs school plays and/or musicals and public performances, including auditioning students to select cast and assign parts; rehearses students to ensure they master parts. Collaboratively works to support other production assistants by assigning non-performing students to backstage production tasks, such as constructing, painting, moving scenery, managing properties and costuming; operating stage lighting and sound equipment. Secures and reserves rehearsal and performance facilities with building administration. Oversees proper organization and storage of stock theatrical units and school-owned equipment and material on the high school stage, in the auditorium, etc. Plan the construction of set pieces, procure materials, teach, supervise and work with students to construct the set, and plan lights and sound. This person will also work with the production team to assist in the design and artistic work for the show, including props and other artistic needs. Prepare, teach and rehearse show choreography with the cast and train and supervise student dance captains and student assistant choreographers. Some Saturday work will be needed to complete each set and run the show. The State College Area School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
