About The Position

Summary: Under basic supervision, uses an Automated Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) system to develop and update technical drawings and plans; maintains and updates technical documents and databases. Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Engineering, Science, Drafting, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; AND one year of computer aided drafting experience is required.
• Knowledge of nomenclature, symbols, methods, practices, and instruments used in drafting and design.
• Knowledge of basic record keeping and records management practices.
• Knowledge of personal computers using standard and specialized AutoCAD software.
• Skill in interpreting technical information and producing drawings and plans.
• Skill in maintaining records and files.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
• Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares drawings and plans in AutoCAD; maintains document inventory and database.
• Indexes, scans, assembles, files, researches, and maintains records.
• Provides customer service duties; answers general questions on City records.
• Supports the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
