About The Position

As a Drafting or Design Technician you will be preparing and maintaining high-quality drawings and plans using AutoCAD and related software. You will support a variety of projects, ranging from mining submittals to municipal infrastructure improvements. While mining-specific experience is considered an asset, it is not required. This position offers opportunities to gain field observation experience on active municipal and infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • New grads or even candidates with existing drafting experience in an engineering, surveying, or construction environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Map and/or Civil 3D strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, drawing production, and permitting requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and clear technical drawings.
  • Experience with GIS data, coordinate systems, and mapping tools a plus.
  • Mining-related drafting experience considered an asset, but not required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to perform occasional fieldwork for project observation and data collection.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree (Civil Engineering), or Associate’s degree, certificate, or equivalent technical training in drafting/design preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise detailed drawings, plans, and maps using AutoCAD (AutoCAD Map and/or Civil 3D experience preferred).
  • Ensure drafting work complies with project specifications, regulatory standards, and company quality guidelines.
  • Incorporate survey data, GIS layers, orthophotos, and other external datasets into project drawings.
  • Assist with the production of project drawings and reports for clients and regulatory submittals.
  • Support engineers with drafting tasks for municipal, industrial, and mining projects.
  • Support mine bonding and closure cost estimates, preparing spreadsheet cost models as required.
  • Develop and program spreadsheet tools. Experience with advanced functions and macros is preferred.
  • Prepare technical reports for management, clients, and regulators.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and senior staff to develop efficient design solutions.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawing libraries, and version control.
  • Provide technical support for permitting documents and construction plans.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure project deadlines and standards are met.
  • Participate in site visits and field observation for municipal projects such as roads, utilities, and drainage improvements.
  • Collect field data, take photographs, and record measurements to support design and drafting tasks.
  • Assist with redlines and as-built documentation following construction.
