This individual is responsible for originating truss design and placement drawings prepared directly from information submitted on a company order form, simple architectural plans, repeated from previous jobs, or from information developed by a Truss Technician II. These drawings may be reviewed by a Truss Technician II prior to releasing to the field or production. The Drafter also revises layout and design drawings for projects that are similar to previous work in addition to structural wood products and accessory items supplied by the company. They assure stability, deflection and load carries in a manner that will meet or surpass codes associated with each project. The role involves conferring with technical and other engineering personnel, preparing design modifications as required, and writing technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties. They may also draw rough sketches or arrange for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence.
