About The Position

The Drafter supports engineering and manufacturing operations by creating and maintaining accurate technical drawings, models, and documentation used for the fabrication, assembly, and inspection of products. This role works closely with engineers, production, and quality teams to ensure designs are clear, manufacturable, and compliant with company and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, fabrication, assembly, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and tolerancing principles
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and document control processes
  • Experience supporting engineering change management
  • Knowledge of materials, finishes, and manufacturing standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D and/or 3D CAD drawings for parts, assemblies, and tooling
  • Converts engineering concepts, sketches, and redlines into detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Apply proper dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, notes, and specifications
  • Prepare and update bills of materials (BOMs) and related documentation
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain drawing revision control
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards and applicable industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, quality, and procurement to resolve design or production issues
  • Assist in documenting standard parts, processes, and design libraries
  • Maintain organized digital records within CAD and document control systems
  • Provide drafting support for continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
