About The Position

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is currently seeking a Drafter, Mechanical for a direct hire position located in Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC engineering office This is an in-office position in either our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC office. Position Synopsis: Individual will apply manual and computerized drafting methods with a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation to ‎obtain the desired product‎. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by engineers or design staff under the direction of a supervisor‎.‎ Individual will be relied upon to apply a working knowledge of mechanical and/or civil/structural design to prepare mechanical isometrics‎, ‎plans‎, ‎elevations‎, ‎and sections, piping plans‎, ‎details‎, ‎and pipe hanger supports‎, ‎and details‎ ‎utilizing engineer sketches and ‎vendor information‎. Other responsibilities may include preparation of bills of material, resolution of client comments and as-built drawing preparation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with ‎course work in drafting ‎techniques and‎/‎or Drafting ‎Certificate‎ is required.
  • Education or experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with basic drafting techniques is required.
  • Able to accurately draw complex mechanical systems from sketches or ‎specifications using appropriate terms‎, ‎procedures and drafting standards‎ is required.‎
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to utilize various drafting and CADD techniques for project requirements is required.
  • Able to produce complex drawings in a ‎2‎-‎D and ‎3‎-‎D environment‎ is required.
  • All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required.
  • Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures and processes.
  • Overtime work will be required at times.
  • Travel to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work is required.
  • Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, working at heights, carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous (e.g. high temperatures, high radiation) areas is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Experience with Laser Scanning tools, total stations, software, and registration is a plus.
