About The Position

The Dozer Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and precise operation of bulldozers on civil construction projects. This role plays a critical part in site preparation, grading, and final surface finishing. A strong emphasis is placed on finish grading experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with survey, grading, and earthwork crews to meet project specifications.

Requirements

  • Travel is required
  • Proven experience operating bulldozers in civil construction environments
  • Demonstrated finish grading experience (this is critical for the role)
  • Strong understanding of grading techniques, slopes, and elevation control
  • Ability to read and understand grade stakes, plans, and basic survey markings
  • Solid safety awareness and a track record of safe equipment operation
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on large‑scale civil, roadway, or heavy highway projects
  • GPS machine control experience (Topcon, Trimble, or similar), if applicable
  • CDL or ability to obtain one (if required by the company)
  • Familiarity working alongside scrapers, excavators, and motor graders
  • Willingness to assist other crews when dozer work is limited

Responsibilities

  • Operate bulldozers to perform rough and finish grading for civil construction projects, including roads, pads, embankments, and drainage features
  • Read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and site plans to achieve accurate elevations and slopes
  • Perform fine grading to tight tolerances, ensuring smooth and consistent final surfaces
  • Work closely with the supervisor, grade checkers, and other equipment operators to coordinate workflow and sequencing
  • Maintain awareness of site conditions, underground utilities, and surrounding crews to ensure safe operations
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance (greasing, fluid checks, cleaning)
  • Identify equipment issues and report mechanical concerns promptly
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite‑specific requirements
  • Assist with other earthwork tasks as needed to support project schedules and team objectives
