About The Position

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors and encourages compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Wheaton Corporate policy through auditing of required documentation submitted by drivers. Provide training to drivers regarding the rules and regulations on proper completion of all required documents. Provide technical assistance on installation, use and troubleshooting operation of Electronic Logging Devices (ELD)   ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS: Review driver logs for completeness and accuracy, comparing logs to other supporting documentation including but not limited to fuel receipts, weight tickets, inspections, accident reports; Confirms inspection documentation and provides instruction for possible bonus payment and prepares driver/agent correspondence; Prepare and maintain DOT required roadside inspection files. Provides initial training and technical support for drivers and agents on routine Electronic Log Device (ELD) issues; Conducts a portion of driver orientation as related to driver logs; and safety policies. Provides instruction on federal hours of service limitations and daily duty status record maintenance for agents and drivers; Identifies roadside violations that can be challenged and follow federal procedure(s) to improve our safety profile in the FMSCA; Software support, interact with vendor and agent/driver in troubleshooting and training on ELD hours of service application; Assists in replacement of defective ELDs authorized by vendor and review vendor data on ELD;   OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assists in review and data entry of vehicle inspections. Provides training and assistance to management for new compliance auditors as needed. Assists in sorting and distributing daily mail for the Safety Department. Supports and assists other areas of the Safety Department, as need.    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Must be able to type 35 wpm. Six months experience in transportation industry utilizing knowledge of driver’s daily duty status reports preferred. Accurate data entry and record keeping skills.   EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school education or equivalent.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Must have the ability to sit at a desk and in front of a computer for long periods of time. Physical presence in office is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  Must have the ability to handle stress.  The employee   is occasionally required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include appropriate vision needed to read a computer screen, paper forms and correspondence.    WORKING CONDITIONS:  Job involves in-office work with heavy phone volume.   SAFETY HAZARD OF THE JOB:  This position is an in-office position with minimal hazards. General in-office working conditions with heavy phone volume.
